This is a lovely mid-century pendant necklace which was designed by the celebrated silversmith, Malcolm Grey for Ortak.
It is a very stylish abstracted minimalistic design - and it takes the form of a starburst - with a tiny star shape in the centre of the design and rays of light shooting out in different directions. It is given a further "space-age" feel with the inclusion of the three smoky quartz stones - which you might say resemble heavenly stars.
It has a tiny hallmark for Edinburgh on the back - which is only just legible.
It has its original fine silver chain - this is 16 inches in total length.
The faceted quartz stones are exquisitely set onto the front of the brooch with a circle of little raised claws - all in excellent condition and each circlet of fingers is nice and steady with no wobble factor to the stones.
The width of the pendant is 5 cm by 4 cm.
As you can see - a very lovely piece of vintage Scottish jewellery.
I have a matching brooch to this - which is also in my Iconic Edinburgh online store.
