She has had many awards for her jewellery designs and in 1992 was asked to make a brooch for presentation to Queen Elizabeth II. She has received many eminent commissions. For the celebrations of Dame Elizabeth Blackadder`s 80th birthday, Sheana was asked to supply themed jewellery for the shop in the National Gallery and also for the Falkirk Callendar House exhibition.
This is a lovely large brooch by Sheana. It is made of silver and has an Edinburgh hallmark on the back for 2008 and her maker's stamp: SMS. It is inset with a large oval turquoise stone. It is a unique, one-off piece. This brooch is also typical of the artist making her jewellery as multi-functional pieces. The wear can wear this piece as a horizontal brooch or turned around with a little fitment which would allow a silver chain to be attached and it worn vertically. The back of the brooch has received the same detail as the front of it.
The brooch is 6 cm wide and 3.5 cm wide at the widest point.
