This is a very fine vintage handmade Scottish silver bracelet or bangle.
It forms a heavy thick cuff - which opens and closes by the way of a beautifully made concealed designer clasp. The interior of the bangle is smooth and the outer band is slightly planished to give a subtle texture.
With all the reflections coming from the metal - it has been rather difficult to photograph - but rest assured it is in completely tip-top condition and you would not be unhappy with it.
It quite an eye-catching silver bracelet - it is 3.2 cm wide - and has a diameter of 6 cm.
It should easily fit a standard sized wrist. There is a good bit of weight to it - it comes in at a total of 98 grams in silver.
It is hallmarked inside with an Edinburgh hallmark for the year 1997.
It also has the maker's stamp: EAA.
This mark is for the Orkney Silversmiths, Kevin and Liz Allen (Orkneyinga Silversmiths). Kevin started his mastercraftsman's training at the age of 16, when he was apprenticed to a Sheffield Silversmith, and Liz graduated from Sheffield Art College after studying Silversmithing and Jewellery. They are known for the exceptional quality of their work.
Orkneyinga Silver was founded in 1989 and all their pieces are handmade with fine attention of detail and exquisite craftsmanship in all pieces. All their jewellery is designed to last forever - and this bracelet certainly would adhere to that principle.
I hope that you can see from my images - the quality of the piece - and the special designer touches such as the hidden clasp - which you lift up to allow the bracelet to open up to remove.
This design is probably one which was specially commissioned - it is certainly now a vintage discontinued design.
This is a fine vintage designer piece of Scottish silver - it is in excellent condition - and it will be sent to you polished and totally clean and sparkling. Contemporary pieces by the Allens always have high ticket prices due to the quality or the workmanship - this large vintage piece by them is certainly listed at a very fair price.
