This is a lovely Scottish brooch made in the early 1990s by Malcolm Gray for Ortak.
The Ortak company was originally founded in the late sixties by Malcolm Gray in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands. The company grew steadily to become of the UK's leading manufacturers and designers of fine silver and gold jewellery.
The beautiful brooch is an unusual Ortak design - and I haven't found another with this wreath of entwined leaf tendrils as a motif. It is beautifully made with such fine attention to detail - a real quality piece.
Fully marked with Edinburgh hallmark and the date letter which is very small and I just can't quite make out the date letter - with my little old eyes! It doe have a tiny mark with the maker's initials: MG. I think that the letter might be an X - this would date this brooch to the year 1997.
The pin is a catch and loop.
Vintage Ortak pieces are now becoming highly collectable - so a fair price for this lovely Scottish silver designer brooch.
Will be sent all cleaned and gleaming - ready to wear. I will pop in a simple little gift box for you.
FREE POSTAGE IN THE UK.
