This is a stylish vintage John Ditchfield Glasform glass vase. It is of a more simple shape, but has the most wonderful iridescent lustre finish to the glass. The glass also has some millefiori canes and fine ribbons picked up in the gather before the vase was blowen. These inclusions have stretched and form a random attractive decorative pattern on the finished vase. This is a unique piece. I have taken lots of photographs to show all these details.
John Ditchfield was born in Blackpool in 1952. He served a seven year apprenticeship at the Venetian Glass Company where he was taught by the skilled Murano glassblower, Franco Toffio.
He established his Glasform company back in the UK in 1982. Here he made beautiful hand-blown one-off vases (such as this one), lamp bases, and paperweights. He specialised in stunning iridescent finishes. His one-off pieces were signed and often had their unique issue number on them.
This one is marked with the number 4424 and is part of his Unique Collection which was started back in 1982.
It is 6 1/2 inches in height and 3 1/4 diameter at the rim. It is 3 3/4 inches at the widest point. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks or scratches on the lustre surface.
