This is a very attractive signed WMF leaf-shaped dish.
The main section of the dish is of organic form with three sections - from the leaf shape issues a large sweeping stalk. The swirls around and forms a carrying handle.
On the handle section, we find an elegant lady resting - she is very slender and wears a fine diaphanous gown which hugs her form and sweeps out around her ankles.
As you can see from my images - the figure is beautifully modelled -as you might find on a WMF piece of antique metalwork - I have taken a close up of the lady's hand for inspection.
A lovely centrepiece for a table or desk. The design for this lovely dish features in Art Nouveau Domestic Metalwork from Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik 1906 (WMF company catalog), page 342, item number 103.
It is in good antique condition - and has been polished to give a shine to the silver plate. The lady is firmly attached to the base - and there are no nasty dents or scratches to the metal.
Dimensions: the length is 12 inches. The width is 10 1/4 inches and the height is 7 inches.
Unpacked the weight is 900 grams.
