This is one of two jugs by the Dundee-based potter, Irma Demianczuk on my webstore. This is the smaller of the two in my possession.
Irma attended school at Prestonpans in the 1960s and then studied at Duncan of Jordonstone College of Art in Dundee. She ran her own pottery studio (Armi Pottery) for over 30 years. She is now retired and has moved from Scotland to Greece.
It is a very decorative - and indeed functional pot. This one is signed Irma and dated 1986.
It is decorated with her iconic and now very collectable images of cats. I love the little applied cat and mouse detail under the handle at the back. The stylised image of a cat is incised into the clay - and all the colours are hand-painted. The decoration is certainly very painterly.
This smaller one measures: 5 1/4 inches in height - and has a diameter of 3 1/2 inches. It is 360 grams unpacked.
The smaller jug can be sent to you in the UK with Royal Mail Recorded Mail (Small Parcel). This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
The two jugs that I have date to the 1980s / 1990s. They are in perfect condition with no damages. They would certainly look fabulous on a dresser in country cottage, perhaps "the cat with the cream".
