This is a typical textured white pot / tall vessel made by the potter Clare Conrad.
She was born in 1948 and is a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association.
The pot is made of wheel-thrown stoneware with a smooth matt-white interior and roughly textured exterior.
The rim has her typical understated border of blue washes on the edge section - which reminds you of the white sands on the beach at St Ives being lapped by the waves of the crystal blue sea.
Conrad writes of her work: I have loved St. Ives ever since my first sight of it from the train as I approached around Carbis Bay – alone, aged 18. I remember it so well – a brilliant, sunny day – the island spread out with sea all around it, like a 3D map, breath-taking: the colours and light have been a major influence on my work... My technique of layering vitreous slip onto wheel-thrown vessels, vases and bowls provide a rugged texture, which contrasts with the satin-matt glaze inside.
This fine Conrad pot is very minimalistic in style and has her studio mark on the side near the base, as photographed. It is a lovely studio vessel - which will look stunning in a contemporary minimalistic interior - and fits in with the latest tastes for neutral lines and colours.
Height: 5 1/2 inches (14 cm) with a diameter at the rim of just over 4 inches (10.5 cm).
It is in excellent condition - and listed at a fair price. Similar pieces of this size often have price tags nearer to £300 attached to them. She regularly exhibits at the Porthminster Gallery in St Ives, the Roger Billcliffe Fine Art in Glasgow, and craft galleries throughout the UK.
