This is a delighted small one-person size stoneware teapot made by Joanna Constantinidis. It is beautfully modelled and has an attractive shape and the stoneware and subtle natural glaze adds to its minimalistic decorative appeal.
It is in excellent condition and is measures 11.5 cm in height. From spout to handle is 16 cm. Diameter of the pot section is 9.5 cm. The little pot has Joanna's Impressed C monogram on the base.

SHORT BIOGPRAPY. Joanna Constantinidis (1927 – 2000) was an English potter and ceramic artist. She was born in York and studied painting at Sheffield College of Art from 1945 – 1949. Whilst at the SCA she discovered her talent for pottery and in 1951 she became a lecturer in Ceramics at Chelmsford Technical College and School of Art. She taught there for nearly 40 years.
In 1978 she was awarded the Medal of Honour at the international exhibition of ceramic art in Faenza.
In 1989 Joanna took early retirement in order to devote herself to producing ceramics full-time. By this time her work was internationally recognised and her pieces were being shown in the United States, Belgium, Germany and Italy as well as in the United Kingdom. In 2000 she had a solo exhibition held at the Victorian and Albert Museum, London. Her work is featured in many public collections including the V&A, York Art Gallery and the National Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto. Her work is currently on display at York Art Museum as part of their “Wall of Women” display.
