This is a fine piece of Art Pottery by Judith Gilmour
It is signed to the base, as photographed.
Judith Gilmour was born in Edinburgh and studied at Glasgow School of Art.
Her work is in a number of prestigious public collections including the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery in Glasgow, Aberdeen Art Gallery, the Royal Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh - as well as a number of international and private collections in Britain, the USA, and Japan.
She was a regular exhibitor at the Billcliffe Gallery in Glasgow.
Her ceramics are made in an elegant oriental-style which are decorated by using a layer of slip which is overpainted with dray glazes and oxides. She uses a very restrained colour palette using whites, sand and grey tones - with warm rust and brown oxides.
This tall vase is a very lovely example of her pottery. It is a large size being nearly 15 inches in height. To the front are two rust and chocolate brown rectangles - and to the back is a tall oblong with an elongated slit all the way through the wall of the vase.
The vase is undated - but was probably made in the 1980s.
It is in perfect condition with no damages and is a special piece of add to your collection of vintage Scottish Studio Pottery / Art Pottery.
The vase has no damages and is sold in excellent condition.
My asking price for this unique piece by such a renowned ceramic artist is certainly a fair one.
A beautiful sculptural piece which would grace any minimalistic interior.
Sadly, due to its size, I would not be able to post this outside of the UK.
