This is a stylish bone china coffee set by Susie Cooper (1902 - 1995).
It looks totally stunning and comes in this much harder-to-find Colosseum Pattern. The main body is of glazed white fine bone china and the decoration is inspired by the arches of the Colosseum in Rome and brought up to date with the addition of vertical atomic inspired columns. The pattern is black and white and each piece has gold edging. It is certainly a very sophisticated set - and a special set for formal entertaining.
The design was produced for only a very short period - only for the year 1974. So makes it now a hard to find pattern by Cooper made for Wedgwood.
This set is complete - and consists of 15 pieces: The large coffee pot, the milk or cream jug, the open sugar bowl, six coffee cups and six matching saucers.
Dimensions: The Coffee Pot measures 8 inches to the top of the knop on the lid - and is 8 1/2 inches from handle to spout. The open sugar bowl is just under 1 3/4 inches in height and has a diameter of 3 inches. The milk jug is 2 1/2 inches in height, has a diameter of 2 3/4 inches and is 4 1/2 inches from handle to spout. The cups are just under 2 3/4 inches in height and have a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. The saucers are 5 1/2 inches.
As you can see from my images - this set is in pristine condition with no damages of any kind - it looks like it has never been used and is as good today as when it was made exactly 50 years ago!
As mentioned, this pattern is now rather scarce. It would fit in with minimal or fine Neo-Classical interiors
My price takes into account the rarity of the Colosseum pattern and its exemplary condition. You will not be disappointed with it.
It will be posted to UK locations only - and I will send it to you very carefully packed using Parcelforce Tracked service - this will cost just over £10 and be applied to your order at the checkout.
