This is a lovely vintage 1950s / 1960s Venetian Glass Bottle Vase with Stopper - or tall cologne bottle.
It is hand-blown with ab unusual plum-coloured glass which is cased in clear glass. It comes with its original stopper. It is a nice large size with a beautiful chunky blown stopper. I
Hans Geismar Ltd was a British company which imported art glass to the United Kingdom from various countries including Sweden, France, Italy, Germany, Poland and Yugoslavia during the 1940's - 1980's.
The Hans Geismar showroom was located at Kimberley House, 14-17 Holborn Viaduct, London. Glassware imported by Hans Geismar can still be found bearing labels with the initials H.G. and the words "Swedish Art Glass", "Venetian Art Glass" etc, depending on the origin of the glassware.
The red foil (as photographed) Hans Geismar "HG Venetian Art Glass" import label was used by him on Italian glass that he imported for sale and originated in the Venice / Murano area.
The bottle is unsigned - but the design is similar to other pieces made by Mario Pinzoni for Seguso Vetri d'Arte.
This bottle is certainly a very stylish vintage and well-made 1960s Italian work. Including the stopper, it is an impressive 14 1/2 inches in height. The overall length of the stopper is 5 1/4 inches. The main body of the bottle (base to the neck) is 11 1/4 inches. The base measures 3 3/5 inches x 2 3/4 inches. The flared neck has a diameter of 2 inches.
It is cased with a thick layer of clear glass, especially around the base - this makes it quite heavy - it is 1.3 kg in weight unpacked
