On offer are a number of Susie Cooper side plates - all dating to 1971.
All of them are in excellent vintage condition with no damages.
I have a total of 12 of these available - the price quoted here is for one side plate only. Of course very good postal discounts could be given for more than one item.
The design is called Cornpoppy and it was designed by Susie Cooper for Wedgwood.
Though the Susie Cooper Pottery had continued as a successful enterprise since the 1930s, in 1966 it merged with Wedgwood. However, the pottery remained a largely autonomous unit and continued to produce Susie Cooper designs.
This 'Cornpoppy' pattern reflects the Art Nouveau revival of the 1960s and early 1970s (influenced by artists like Mucha) with the use of sinuous line wrapping around the front of the form.
The 'Cornpoppy' range was (and indeed continues to be) popular in Britain, and featured a large red poppy with sweeping green bud tendrils.
The side plates have a diameter of 6 1/2 inches.
A design classic even!
I have a number of other pieces in my Iconic Edinburgh Online Store featuring this attractive pattern - of course, good postal discounts would apply.
