This is a unique LARGE vintage wooden plate which is date 1936 on the reverse.
The plate is a piece of original Swedish Folk Art - which I think shows a wedding party setting off from a farm steading.
There seems to two couples on their way - the wedding couple are shown in the lower centre and behind another couple following on - whom I take to be the best man and bridesmaid. Each couple is dressed in identical outfits - and each lady carries a big green leafy bouquet.
In the distance is a big pink and blue checked barn with a grey coloured roof - two men play little flutes and all the animals from the farm look on. We have a golden coloured cow and pony behind, and in the front are a sweet little white lamb and white duckling.
There is a selection of naively painted trees, three red flowers and a white daisy. It certainly is a most jolly scene.
The natural golden colour of the forms the background colour - and the rim of the plate has been painting with a chocolate brown coloured band.
This plate is a unique one and was hand painted.
It is a nice large size of display - it measures 12 3/4 inches in diameter.
On the back it says: Hand painted (in Swedish) and has the date '36. There are the initials of the artist as well - PtC. The plate is designed to be hung on the wall as a decorative item - and there has been a white ribbon attached for hanging.
The colour and grain of the wood on the back as certainly most glorious - I think that it is a native pine which has developed a fine gold colour or patina with age.
The platter is generally in fine condition for its age.
