These little expanding coin purses were very popular with Continental tourists in the 1940s.
This one is decorated on the front with little flowers and says that it is a souvenir of Alexandria in Egypt. It was probably made for the French market.
The purse is made on each side from sheets of mother of pearl - and around the sides are chrome concertina hinges - the purse folds open with a fan of red cloth sections for a selection of little coins etc.
The clasp is at the top and it is a twin-ball toggle one. It also has its original little finger chain on the top.
As you can see from my photographs - it is in very good vintage condition - there are no damages - perhaps just a little rubbing to the black lettering and the star and crescent symbol.
These antique Egyptian souvenirs from the 30s / 40s are harder to find. and in such nice condition - this is reflected in my asking price.
It measures length 2 1/2 inches. Height is 2 inches. The depth is 3/4 inch.
It would have to be packed in a little sturdy card box to send to you and to keep all nice and safe in transit. This will cost £4.95 with Royal Mail Recorded in the UK. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
