This is a very rare piece of mid-century British pottery.
It on initial inspection looks like a fine piece of Italian pottery by Fratelli Fanciullacci - but when you turn this large vase over - the mark on the base reads: Crown Devon
I have never seen Crown Devon doing pieces like this very often - and it is certainly a piece of classic British 1950s pottery.
It is a nice large size of a vase measuring some 9 inches in height and at the widest point is 6 1/2 inches.
The vase has a glossy mustard / egg yolk coloured interior, which matches the yellow on the brush strokes on the exterior.
The exterior is all textured as you might find on a piece of Fanciullacci pottery. There are two applied pointed horns or lugs to each sides - and two decorative raised bands running from top to bottom on each side.
An abstract black and yellow decoration back and front very "stile italiano".
Would look great in a mid-century / rockabilly interior. With its simple styling and lines - it would also look fantastic on your Scandinavian rosewood or teak furniture.
It is of course in perfect condition.
Price reflects its larger size and fine condition!
