This is a very collectable vintage powder compact by Tokalon.
It is has a chrome case with a stylised image of an Art Deco lady on the lid.
The lady is a flapper and has short hair with has a wee curl at the back of her neck. She holds a flower and smells its fragrance. This little compact no doubt would have fitted in a little beaded evening purse belonging to a modern lady in the 1920s - and brought out to take the shine of a wee up-turned nose.
The compact is in good vintage condition - and has never been used.
The hinge and clasp are in good working condition.
The lid is made of chrome with a black enamel decoration printed on the surface - it is in generally good condition - perhaps a little tiny area of light rubbing to the silvered area near the ladies face - but you only see this in very close up inspection and with the compact turned to a bright raking light.
The more golden shade to the chrome area on the lid - it the reflection on the mirror finish from my ceiling colour!
The base is engine turned and in excellent condition - all nice and shiny. The word Tokalon - and the words registered trademark is inscribed on the base.
On opening up the little miniature compact - you can see the wee mirror in the lid - no blemishes. It has the original Deco black and white powder puff inside - and also really rare - has the original contents - it has never been used and the word Tokalon appears in raised letters on the powder cake itself... phew! unused for nearly 100 years. Even the original wee cellophane cover is on top of the powder contents.
It is 2 inches in diameter.
My asking price for this most sought after and beautiful wee compact is a very fair one for a one of this rarity and fine condition.
