Pieces of Portmeirion Gold Lion ceramics are now quite hard to find.
The Gold Lion design was made in 1962 after designs by Susan Williams-Ellis. It was produced right up into the 1970s - but it was not such a popular design and fewer items were made with this pattern on them.
The cups are 8 cm in height. The diameter at the top is about 6 cm. The Saucer diameter is 13.5 cm.
These would have been made early in the run - as they have gold gilding around the rim area - later issues didn't have this addition.
They are both in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or damages.
Marked to the base with an oval blue backstamp, as photographed.
