This is a VERY RARE limited edition paperweight.
It was made in 1997 by the celebrated Caithness glass designer, Colin Terris (CT- 1467)
It is from a limited edition of only 100 - and this one is No. 43. The issue was fully subscribed.
It comes with its certificate - which states that this is from the Colin Terris Designer Collection. It describes the weight: "Deep in the blue lagoon - a jewel-like cavern reveals its secrets".
The title of the weight is Emerald Grotto - and it is a high-domed egg-shaped weight.
It is slightly surreal in its design - with a cut-away section at the front - which makes it appear that you are looking into an underground cave - the background is covered in tiny purple bubbled with swirls inside which look like fingers of seaweed.
It is so hard to find this particular weight - and this one is in very good vintage condition and looks great in your collection.
Obviously, it is quite hard to judge the quality of this one from photographs - and the amount of work and skill which has gone into making this exemplary example. It is probably a collector's item - for the paperweight specialist.
Height 3 7/8 inches and with a diameter 3 1/8 inches.
