Please note that this piece is now nearly 100 years old. I certainly do not condone the killing and farming of crocodiles today to make contemporary fashion accessories. This bag comes from a period when these practices were generally more acceptable.

This is a very good quality vintage genuine Crocodile handbag dating to the 1930s / 1940s. The brass hinge section to the side says that the bag was made in Germany.
It had a label inside saying that it is genuine.
The bag is a "Kelly" shape - and it has a rigid (not soft) body. It is made of hornback crocodile with raised gaint "head horn" sections which have been used to great effect on this bag, both on the front and to the back. The gusset is made from the tail skin.
The bag has a fancy clasp at the top - this is made of chunky brass - and the outside has been finished with a brown enamel to tone in the with main body of the bag. I have taken images of this as it is a special feature. The bag has a simple short handle made of crocodile.
This is such a quality bag - and I love the bag frame at the top. The is also made of good quality brass and also enamelled at the corners to fit in with the colour of the bag. The golden colour of the brass is shown at the edges and on the sides.
The interior of the bag is lined with a shiny chocolate coloured leather - and it has two internal pockets. One is a double one - with a zipped pocket behind and the attached pocket in front contains a little crocodile coin purse. The other side has an open fluted pocket which allows a bit of expansion to it. All the pockets are edge with a gold colour - again, a nice detail and revealing the quality of this bag.
It is in very good condition with no tears or rubbing to the skin. The side panels are fully intact (these are often damaged). And there is no rubbing or issued with the base.
It is certainly a nice large size as well - so great for today's mobile phones and a host modern accessories.
Dimensions. The main is 10 1/2 inches wide and height including the clasp is 9 1/2 inches. The overall height including the carry handle is 15 inches. At the widest the triangular side panel is 3 inches.
