This is a lovely little vintage handbag or evening bag. It dates to about the 1940s.
My bag has a little label stitched inside which states that the bag was Made in England and has the LKW makers mark.
LKW is one of the most sought after brands of its time and this one has very tiny stitches all over and the detail of all the flowers is just fantastic. There is a little manufacturer's card inside the bag. This states that the embroidery has a stonking 1250 stitches per square inch.
It is a tapestry style bag with a "snake" chain handle - and a fancy gold-tone clasp closure, as photographed.
The main body of the bag is black and covered on both side with matching petit point decoration - the stitching is in miniature and in excellent clean condition - the bag has a border running around the sides of the bag, again as photographed.
The interior of the bag is in warm honey-cream taffeta which is totally clean - with no signs of any use. It is as nice as the day that it was made. There are two little pocket sections on the inside - where you could perhaps store your bank card to use when out and about. There is also a little tab to keep a lipstick on - so you can get it easily out of the bag when required on a night out.
It is certainly a beautiful example and looks like it has been stored away from the day that it was made and never used. Comes from a smoke-free house,
Dimensions of the bag body - is 7 inches in height including the clasp - the width is 8 1/2. The drop including the handle is 11 1/4 inches.
It will be sent to you in the UK with Royal Mail Recorded Delivery - this will applied to your order at the check out.
