This is an attractive piece of mid-century Scandinavian silver. It was made in Denmark by Cohr. It is a fine server for small cakes or pastries. The company as one of the finest manufacturing silversmiths in Denmark. The company was founded by Carl Cohr. His son Einar took over the firm after his father's death in 1925 and they remained in business up until 1987.
The handle is silver and the slice section is made of highly polished stainless steel. It is in remarkable condition and looks like it has never been used.
The handle is the Sachisk or Saxon Pattern designed by Cohr. The pattern has a flower at the join with the slice section on the handle and at the top is anouther floral bloom - the stem of which forms a decorative border around the handle. The same pattern appears on the reverse.
On the reverse of the slice is COHR and the silver mark of the Three Towers for Copenhagen. This mark is for Danish minimum 830 grade silver. Below this mark is the number 56 - dating the slice to 1956.
It is excellent conidition and comes in its original retail box - for A.F Rasmussens Sonner, Ashus, Denmark.
Dimensions: The slice has a total length of 8 7/8 inches (22.5 cm). The width of the slice is 2 1/8 inches (5.5 cm). The length of the silver handle is 4 inches (10 cm).
