This is a lovely little mid-century piece of Scottish Glass. It dates to the 1950s and contains a flattened Vasart paperweight in the base of the dish.
The base section is of typical Vasart form. It has a central cane - with a rosette surrounding it and issuing from the the central rosette there are five little half-length twisted latticino canes in green and orange. There are some little white millefiori canes placed around the edge. The interior of the dish is slightly domed.
The base has a typical unpolished pontil mark seen on vintage Vasart weights.
The dish is quite a substantial one - with a thick clear glass raised edge all around the central weight section. There is a little air bubble in the edge section, as photographed. There are no chips or cracks - just the little captured internal bubble, done in the making!
Dimensions: The dimensions of the little dish or bowl is 3 1/2 inches and the height is 1 3/4 inches. The thickness of the side walls just over 1/2 inch.
