This is a nice vintage 1950s Windsor & Newton Scholastic Watercolour Paint Box.
It is made of black enamel metal - and inside there are 12 full watercolour paint cakes, as photographed. The paints have hardly been used and are mostly full and have lots of use in them. The lid of the paint box - is clean with no mixing of the colours occurring.
The paint box - has the details of the box printed in the brush section inside. It tells you that this is the GEORGE HERIOT Box - Box No. T 12. The colours are Viridian Tint, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Lemon Yellow, Ultramarine, Cobalt Blue, Cerulean Blue, Alizain Crimsons, Vermillion Mid. Tint, Light Red, Burnet Sineena and Payne's Gray. The owner of the box back in the 1950s has printed his name - it belonged to a Sandy McKenzie. The paintbrush is original to the paint box - and is marked Windsor and Newton - it is squirrel hair - and in good condition.
The paintbox exterior is nice and shiny with no scratches, dents or rust to the black enamel metal.
The thing that I like best about this set is that it comes with its original early 1950s outer cardboard box. It has very Art Deco Graphics - this is a rare survivor and is in pretty good vintage condition.
Dimensions of the box: 9 inches x 2 1/2 inches.
