I love these novelty banks made by Carlton Ware in the late 1960s or early 1970s.
This one is very rare and takes the form of a little bird - probably an owl. It has big goggly eyes and is decorated all around with a pink, purple and rust-coloured abstract pattern. He is certainly very 1960s psychedelic in inspiration.
Mr Owl Bank is in excellent condition with no damages. He retains his original red plastic stopper. He is marked Carlton Ware on the rim of the hole on the base, as photographed. The slot around the top is often damaged - but this one is just fine and dandy.
Dimensions: The height is 5 inches and diameter at the widest point is just over 3 inches.
You hardly every find these bug eyed creature banks by Carlton Ware - perhaps they were not popular in their time - as they seem to be very rare survivors. My price is a fair one and takes into account his rarity and condition.
