This is a highly collectable piece of vintage 1960s Japanese Art Glass.
It was made by Hineri Iwatsu in Japan. It looks rather like a Murano piece in form.
The Iwatsu Glass Company is based in Osaka, Japan. They produced colourful art glass during the 1960s and 1970's, the quality and style of which matched, and is often mistaken for, Italian Murano glass and Czech glass from the same era. This vase is from their Hineri Range made for export.
It takes the shape of a chunky lobed handkerchief vase. It an attractive pink colour with little subtle raspberry stripes running through the rose pink shade. The vase is case in a thick layer of clear glass - which forms prominent clear nodules at the base.
It is in good condition with no chips. These mid-century pieces of Iwatsu Glass are now becoming very collectable. The lovely undulating shapes seen in the rim and just so eye-catching. It certainly will look fabulous on display in a Scandi-modern inspired interior.
Height: 8 1/4 inches. The diameter of the rim at the widest is 7 1/4 inches. The base is 2 1/2 inches. My asking price for this very special piece of glass is certainly a fair one.
