These are a quirky little set of vintage 1960s toiletries. The set was made by Evette and this line was called No. 23.
They are interesting survivors from the 1960s.
Toiletries, perfumes and cosmetics were a key part of Woolworth's key products in Britain for more than seventy-five years. Evette was the store's exclusive own-label cosmetic brand. The range, made by E. R. Holloway of Lavenham, Suffolk, had a very strong following with customers for many years, This funky packaging with bright colours and flower power-inspired design no doubt was designed to appeal to its younger and teenage customers in the mid-60s. They also introduced at the same time its more successful Baby Doll range of cosmetics.
My number No 23 set was cheap and cheerful. It contains the following: Talcum 70 grams; three bath cubes 42 grams each and two soaps 2 5/8 ozs. These are set into a textured bright purple plastic insert. There is a clear cellophane window and the surround of the box is printed with the flowers. The box has been slightly squashed over the years - but not torn or damaged. It is certainly an interesting vintage British beauty product for the more specialist collector.
This set is now rare - and a great example of British toiletries design and packaging in the swinging 60s. It is certainly interesting that this box survives but Woolworths itself is no longer here. Hopefully, I can find a home for this set in a collection relating to the history of Woolworths in the UK.
