This is a lovely large biscuit tin made in the early 1960s by Peek Frean & Co Ltd, London and Edinburgh.
It is a nice large size and would also serve as a storage tin for biscuits, craft or sewing items etc.
The tin has a diameter of 8 inches and a height of 1 1/2 inches.
As you can see from my images, an attractive vintage tin for Royal Scotch Shortbread.
It is in very good condition with nice fresh images on the top and around the sides. There is no scratching or issues with the images - the base is a shiny gold colour with the maker's name on them the Royal Warrant to HM the Queen.
The image on the lid is certainly a rather kitsch Scottish one - featuring a bonnie wee lass in her shortie kilt dancing the Highland Fling - her red tartan plaid wrap flutters to the side. The edging is a tartan pattern with sprigs of heather around. Text on the side as shown.
These old biscuit tins are now very collectable - and these ones are harder to find in such excellent condition.
