This is a pretty vintage 1960s Scandinavian Ceramic bottle vase.
It was made at the Upsala Ekeby pottery and was designed c 1965 by Mari Simmulson.
It is in lovely condition with decoration on both sides. The edges are a nice glossy white glaze, as photographed.
The front has an abstract picture of a lady's head - it is drawn out with sgraffito lines into the brown matt clay - and them decorated with enamel colours. The back has a simple abstract pattern with a posy of little flowers in the center.
The decoration is typical of Simmulson's work. These little vases by her are now highly collectable and getting harder to find. A great piece for a Scandi-modern interior - would look good on a teak bureau or cabinet in our living room.
The vase measures 5 1/2 inches in height. At the widest point, it is just over 4 1/4 inches wide. And just over 1 1/2 inches wife.
It is in excellent vintage condition with no damages.
