This is a very stylish piece of vintage Scottish jewellery. It is made by Ceard as annotated on the reverse. The design is called Inverewe - and it was inspired by the fantastic heritage garden there.
Inverewe Garden is an amazing botanical garden in the Scottish Highlands. It is located just to the north of Poolewe in Wester Ross.
The necklace takes the form of an elongated lozenge with an openwork floral design.
It is made of matt-finished pewter and is in very good vintage condition.
It is being sold all nice and clean, ready to wear.
Dimensions: The length of the main pendant section is 7 cm x 2.5 cm at the widest - the length of the chain is 58 cm (23 inches) so a nice long length. It goes over your head without needing to use the ring fastening to open and shut it. The chain is NOT silver but a white metal one.
There is a large loop on the back to thread the chain through - so it is very easy to replace the chain if you wish to.
Ceard is a Gaelic word, meaning maker or craftsperson. The Ceard Company dates to the 1970s and was a collective of Scottish jewellers who made fine pewter items. The company's lead designer was John Forsyth. Their pieces of pewter jewellery are inspired by Scottish places and wildlife but are made in a modernist style.
