This is a little sweet miniature paperweight, measuring only 2 inches in diameter.
It is one of the miniature series done by Caithness / Whitefriars. It seems to be a second as the only inscription on the base is CIIG - but I cant see any flaws or issues with it. These little weights are pretty rare and much sought after. I have taken into account this one does not have the date canes on the base - only the engraved inscription.
It has the Caithness Butterfly cane (very tiny in scale) in the very centre - you can just see it with a strong magnifying glass - but the blue Butterfly / Monk cane is there.
The weight is ball shaped - with a single viewing facet on the top - there are no other facets around the side. The base ground floats slightly inside the weight and is a clear pale blue colour. This is set with concentric close packed rings of the tiniest of white millefiori canes. There is the central cane section, and then the three rings - it looks more due to the mirroring effect of the facet on the top. When holding the weight and looking into it - it almost has a double halo effect.
It seems to have no damages or flaws - perhaps it was not completed as other examples that I have seen have a few more polished facets around the side.
We also have another two larger Caithness / Whitefriars paperweights available in our store - those also have the same cane as on this one.
It is a lovely collectable weight - and I have listed it at a very fair price. We can send to you with 2nd Class Recorded post with the Royal Mail in the UK. The price we will be charged by the postal service will be applied at checkout. We do not make profits from posting.
