This is a very pretty little brooch - which has a tiny hallmarked on the back for 9ct gold.
It is beautifully made with fine attention to detail.
The brooch has a faceted smoky quartz stone in the center. The stone is surrounded by a fine decorative edging of Celtic style loops, The central stone is held in place with a band of tiny fingers all around - rather like a crown shape.
As you can see from my close up images - this is full of exquisite detail - and must have taken great skill on the part of the goldsmith to have made this. There is quite a lot of gold in this piece - hence my asking price.
The brooch is a fine vintage example and would look fabulous on a jacket lapel - or as a subtle embellishment to a simple black sweater or little black evening dress.
It is certainly "a wee gem" - it measures 3.3 cm in diameter. The overall height is about 1 cm.
It has a closed c-ring catch to the back.
It is in excellent condition with no damages or losses. Fully hallmarked on the reverse for Birmingham - with the maker's mark T.M & Co, and with the date letter N. The stone is without chips or scratches.
Listed at a very fair price for the craftsmanship in this pretty solid gold brooch.
It is perfectly clean and ready to wear and will be sent in a nice black velveteen gift box.
