This is a vintage late 1960s or early 1970s Dutch Brabantia Food Warmer.
It comes in its original box - which has an image of the food warmer placed on a vintage dining table - looking very cool and trendy beside the Scandinavian Ruska Stoneware teapot. The box is very much a design of its time! It is slightly shabby chic in condition - but cant find another example of one of these vintage food warmers in this box.
I have taken a lot of images for you to assess the condition of the box. The food warmer itself is in pristine condition - and I don't think that it has ever been used.
It works by you lighting a little candle or tealight which pops into the central reservoir (this one unusually has only one candle area inside - most have two - so again a rarer design feature).
Once you have lit the little tealight - you pop the metal grill on top and you can sit your plates or bowls on top of the grill to keep the food warm. To snuffle the candle - there is a little "flip" handle on the side which you turn and a little metal cap flips over the candle inside to put out the flame.
This one is in the EXTREMELY rare purple colour - this would have been on top trend in the late 60s.. purple was a top glam rock colour! There are a few little tealights inside - including the original one - still in its red wrapper.
I don't think that I have ever seen a purple one of these before.
A great little piece of vintage tableware for retro dinner parties - and formal dining.
Fair price for this rarer purple one and its pristine condition given that this one is now about 50 years old!
