This is a lovely vintage early 1960s powder compact.
It has a cream-coloured enamelled lid - the gold colours images of some best-loved tourist sites in London.
The places featured are the Royal Festival Theatre, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the Eros Statue at Picadilly Circus, St Paul's Cathedral, and along the bottom is Buckingham Palace.
Dimensions: The diameter is 7.5 cm (3 inches).
It is in pristine vintage condition. The enamel on the lid is without scratches. The base has engine-turned engraving - which is also without issue. Inside, the mirror is nice and clean with no spotting. There is a metal lid to cover the powder compartment. The original thin puff and sifter mesh is present and totally clean. I very pretty vintage compact if you live in or love London.
It would probably not take a pressed cake of powder - it would have been originally designed to hold loose powder - for a quick powder to your nose when you were out on the town.
I have another variant of the compact on my website - this is slightly chunkier and has the same pattern on the lid - but with dark red enamel on the lid.
