This is a harder to find vintage 1980s messenger or shoulder bag or satchel.
Red or Dead is a fashion line and manufacturer, started in London in 1982 by Wayne Hemingway and his wife Gerardine Hemingway. They design products such as shoes, spectacles, bags and watches.
It is made of a heavy waterproof cotton twill type material.
The edges of the bag are piped with a pale grey leatherette material.
The front of the bag has the logo: I love Red or Dead. This lettering is not printed on the bag but applied and raised - the heart is a nice raised leatherette addition. Behind the logo is an opening which serves as an outer pocket.
The back of the bag is plain black.
The handles are a heavy duty woven black cotton - and that are securely attached to the sides of the bag on rectangular shaped rings - and then made ore secure with grey leatherette stitched patches.
There is an internal pocket with a zip closure.
Love the little grey plastic feet on the base - a nice detail and which would keep your bag nice and dry and scuff free if you had to place it on the ground.
I have personally owned this bag for many years - and I hardly ever used it - so it is just tip top and perfectly clean condition with no wear or condition issues.
Dimensions: width is about 14 inches (35 cm); height is 10 inches (25 cm) and the depth is 5 1/2 inches (14 cm).
The strap allows the bag to fit over your shoulder - but is adjustable and can be shortened as required.
This bag is quite a rare one, very trendy and listed at a fair price given its almost pristine condition.
You will certainly have to look hard to find another like it!
