This is a sweet little 1930s French Holy Water font.
It is has a mottled cream and rust coloured alabaster backing section - onto which we have a little silver-tone (possibly silver) plaque showing an image of the Virgin Mary. It is signed with a monogram, as photographed.
Below is a little metal hoop, into which you place the little clear glass bowl - which you fill with Holy Water for anointing yourself.
It is a lovely example - and it retains its original label on the back saying that is was retailed at 20 rue casimir peret in Beziers, in Southern France.
It is a very collectable little domestic font which you might hang in your hallway. It has a hanging ring on the back. It is in excellent condition - the alabaster is without issue. The plaque has nice detailing - and I can polish it for you before posting if you wish me to.
There is only one little issue - a couple of little chips to the top of of the glass water container - this is commensurate with age and use. The little bruises are contained within the glass font and not really visible when it is on display.
Dimensions: The alabaster plaque is 5 3/4 inches in height - and the width at the widest point is 4 1/8 inches. The glass font is 1 3/4 inches wide with an inch in height. The white metal plaque is 2 3/4 inches square.
