This is an attractive little piece of vintage Art Glass which was designed by the Swedish glassmaker, Bertil Vallien (b. 1938). It comes from a series of designs called the Blue Series and dates to the 1960s. All pieces were produced in this vibrant cobalt coloured glass.
Vallien joined Afors glassworks in 1963. The company later allied with Boda and Kosta in 1964. In 1971 Afors, Boda and Kosta merged to form Kosta Boda and the name Afors continued to be used post merger.
My piece takes the form of a delicate glass candlestick - but it could also be used as a pretty little vase - and would look great with some little blue cornflowers in it on display.
These vintage pieces are always sought after - and my price for this fine piece is certainly a fair one as they don't come up for sale very often. It is in excellent condition with no damage.
It is 5 1/2 inches in height and is 3 1/4 inches in diameter at the foot. It is 410 grams unpacked.
