This is a pretty vintage 1980s paperweight by Caithness Glass.
It is marked on the base: Caithness Glass with the weight title: Winter Flower. It has no issue number on it, but comes from an edition of 500 weights - but the edition closed at 415. It had an original retail price over 30 years ago of £56.30
It is another stunning Manson weight. The base colour is ice white and it is inset with a ring around the outer edge of teeny weeny pink millefiori canes. The flower in the centre looks to be a poinsettia.
Around the side of the weight, there are six circular polished oval facets and on the top of the weight, there is a concave viewing facet. The cutting of the facets seems to create an optical illusion that there is more than one millefiori ring on the weight.
The base is polished. It is not signed as being by William Manson. This is not an unusual occurrence, as many of his weights made at Caithness often devoid of a signature.
It is a fabulous weight - and looks amazing on display. It is listed at a fair price. This takes into account the complicated design, its excellent condition and the small edition size.
Dimensions: The diameter is 2 1/2 inches. The height is 1 3/4 inches. The weight unpacked is 325 grams.
