This is an interesting 1960s / early 1970s Sgraffito terracotta vase.
It has a mark on the base which I think is the German word for Handmade - it also has two incised numbers - which you often find on West German Wekara ceramics. The numbers are 90 and 20.
It is not marked with an impressed Wekara mark - but stylistically it looks very like pieces made by Alfred Krupp for Wekara.
It is certainly a fine and most attractive piece of North European studio or art pottery. The main body of the pot is hand thrown and is made from an attractive terracotta-coloured clay.
The Brutalist decoration of abstract zig-zags has been etched into the surface and then coloured with washes of beige, chocolate brown and black.
It is a nice large size and measures some 8 inches in height and is 5 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest point. The base has a diameter of 3 inches.
It is quite a chunky pot and has a good bit of weight to it - it is 1.2 kg unpacked.
It will be sent to you in the UK only as a Royal Mail Medium Size Parcel. This will cost £6.95 and be applied to your order at the checkout.
