This is a nice minimalistic chunky clear Art Glass vase. It was made in Finland in the 1960s for Nuutajarvi Notsjo and designed by the celebrated Finnish designer, Kaj Franck (1911 - 1989).
Franck was an important influence in the development of Finland's modernistic design in the mid-1950s, and his classic designs still remain popular and highly sought after some 70 years after they were first created. He made many designs for factories such as Iittala and Nuutajärvi-Notsjö. He was a Professor at the Helsinki School of Art and Design and exhibited worldwide.
This lovely vase is fully signed and dated on the base. It appears to be a rarer piece of Finnish Art Glass as I cannot find another like it. This is reflected in my price. It is in excellent vintage condition with no damage.
Dimensions: 4 3/4 inches in height with a diameter of 3 3/4 inches at the top and 3 1/4 inches in diameter at the base. The internal aperture is 2 1/8 inches in diameter.
It is a thick and heavy piece of glass - and unpacked it is 1.5 kg.
It is a lovely organic shape and made of thick glass with swirling ribs all around the sides. The glass is clear (please note that is might look tinged in my images - but it is only in the photographs - the ribbing made it a little tricky to photograph). The base of the vase has been highly polished.
It is in good vintage condition - with no nasty chips or scratches to the surface of the glass.
Due to it's weight, this fine piece of glass will have to be sent with Parcelforce24 tracked shipping service. This will be applied at the checkout stage of your order.
