This is fine original vintage Swedish stainless steel squat lidded jug or teapot. It dates to the late 1950s / early 1960s.
I have three other pieces in this range listed on the website.
My jug is made of good quality 18/8 gauge stainless steel - and it is in excellent shiny condition with no nasty scratches, marks or stains. It is beautifully made and crafted, as photographed. I love the geometric inclusions to enliven the design - the little 3-D disk on the lid - each side filled with black bakelite - and the bakelite is repeated on the undulating handle.
Gense is the biggest manufacturer of cutlery made of stainless steel in the Scandinavia. The company was founded by Gustaf Eriksson in 1856 and over the years Gense has collaborated with some of the most renowned designers. Many of their early / mid 20th century designs are still in production today and are considered design classics.
This design was probably designed by Folke Arnstrom - who worked for Gense and liked to include bakelite details into his innovative mid-century designs for the company.
This lidded jug could also be used as a teapot. It holds 100 cl of liquid
Of course - like most items of Swedish design it is made to the highest standards of quality. My price takes into account the fabulousness of the design and also what nice condition it is in.
