This is a really beautiful vintage Whitefriars Paperweight complete with its original card presentation box covered in fine hessian. It is mark Whitefriars in gold on the lid - and has the Whitefriars paper label on the side of the box. It also has a little piece of paper stating that is is made of full lead crystal and has the Whitefriars signature cane and date authenticating its manufacture.
I have a few stunning 1970s Whitefriars weights listed on my site. They are all in excellent condition.
This weight is in exceptional condition with no damages. It has concentric rings of tiny millefiori canes - in red, white and blue tones - with central rosette is an ochre yellow with a little black star in the center. The surface of the weight is covered all over with faceted diamonds - which reflect all the canes when viewed from different angles.
It has a paper label featuring the Whitefriar's Monk on the side - and a teeny weeny cane with a monk and the date 1973 which can be seen on the base. The base is concave
Height: about 2 inches - and diameter is about 3 inches.
A very lovely weight - and probably a special piece for the collector of Whitefriars Glass or British Art Glass paperweights.
